PMO as a Service & Consultancy

It is widely recognised* that a PMO can add value to an organisation delivering successful projects.

 

There is simply no ‘silver bullet’ when it comes to embedding a PMO into an organisation. Many organisations eliminated their PMO during various rounds of cost cutting, only to find the price of losing it was higher than the cost of keeping one and now find themselves unable to re-establish a PMO because the skills, tools and technology needed have moved on.

PMO as a Service (PMOaaS)

Project Management Office as a Service (PMOaaS) is an approach to stay in control of the project roadmap execution and costs.

 

Some PMO as a service companies employ a methodology that aims to support the existing project delivery standards in a business. They will then use templated processes and try to close potential gaps on a per-hour basis. This can work well but it can still leave room for unpredictability of PMO costs. While for larger organisations this variability in PMO costs can be absorbed, in many medium to small organisations control of PMO costs and predicting the cost of growth as a portfolio expands can be crucial, this is where NJM Consulting comes in.

 

• NJM Consulting uses its own in-house tools and processes to provide a set of clearly designed Service Packages, all to P30/PMI/Prince2 methodologies and complete with integrated service levels.

• Each client will have a single point of contact (SPOC) at NJM Consulting. That SPOC will have a primary and a secondary backup member of our team.

• The data interface between our clients and ourselves is handled via Microsoft SharePoint, Teams sites and CSV file exchanges.

• A client can engage a service package for several projects for a period as short as one month extending the service on a per month basis.

• Projects can be grouped into portfolios within a Service Package and each one of those portfolios can have a dashboard, as defined by the service package.

NJM Consulting offers a project & Portfolio engagement service at two levels:

 

PPE Service – Full:
Management of all incoming project requests for multiple portfolios. Coordination of all external and internal stakeholders in the participation in the PPE Service, inclusive of all set-up activities, training and meeting coordination.

The PPE Service Tool 

Our PPE Service uses a tool accessed by any web interface and structures the decision-making process. It eliminates the bias that inevitably creeps into the project prioritisation process. We then gather opinion and build a consensus delivering results in a graphical dashboard interface which gives a bias free recommendation to enable leadership to make clear project prioritisation decisions with consensus.

By using NJM Consulting’s PPE Service our clients need not purchase any software, we handle all that along with arranging and conducting stakeholder meetings.
